Disability Policy in Canada Provincial and Territorial Report Released!
DiPo researchers published a report detailing disability policy across provinces and territories in Canada.
DiPo, in partnership with the researchers at McGill University, released the Disability Policy in Canada Provincial and Territorial Report in January 2025. This comprehensive report—commissioned, funded, and supported by Kids Brain Health Network (KBHN)—sheds light on the current landscape of provincial and territorial disability policy in Canada.
This is the first-ever Canadian report summarizing disability policy across Canada that includes family experiences applying for and accessing programs (see the Experiences with Disability Programs project for more details). This report provides information about disability-related legislation, income support programs, government advocacy and awareness initiatives (including action plans), tax measures, and services and supports. The report also provides additional context and policy connection to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD).
