DiPo Out and About: Fall 2023


DiPo team members had the opportunity to share their work at several events this fall.


DiPo has been busy this fall! Take a look at the highlights below:

  • Bishnu Bajgain presented a poster on evaluation of mental health services at the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Conference in September 2023 and the ACHRI Retreat in December 2023.

  • Genevieve Currie presented her work on evaluating a care coordination project at the Alberta Children’s Hospital at the Kids Brain Health Network (KBHN) Annual Conference in October 2023 and the ACHRI Retreat in December 2023.

  • Ken Fyie, Angela Senevirathna, and Patricia Basualto all presented posters describing their work on the ACCESS project at the KBHN Annual Conference in October 2023. Patricia also presented this poster at the Children’s Healthcare Canada Conference and ACHRI Retreat in December 2023, and discussed her findings from this project during a panel presentation titled “21st Century Philosophies for Developmental Disability: Exploring Approaches and Applications in Practice and Policy” at the KBHN Conference.

  • Ken Fyie presented his analysis of utilization of the Disability Tax Credit at the Canadian Research Data Centre Network Conference in November 2023.

  • Brittany Finlay presented a poster on developing disability-inclusive policy with stakeholders, based on findings from the second phase of the Nothing Without Us project at the KBHN Annual Conference in October 2023.

  • Brittany Finlay, Stephanie Chipeur, and Genevieve Currie all contributed their research and lived experience to a panel titled “Navigating Childhood Disability Policy in Canada: Discussing Perspectives from Families and Case Law” at the KBHN Conference in October 2023.

  • Brittany Finlay, Jennifer Zwicker, and Christiane Roth collaborated on a presentation outlining how to move research into action through policy, presented at the KBHN Conference in October 2023 and Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance Conference in September 2023.

  • Ash Seth presented a poster summarizing a project that is focusing on improving the design of and access to supports, systems, and services in Alberta for youth with neurodevelopmental disabilities.

  • Stephanie Chipeur hosted a workshop titled “Funding for Family Caregivers: The Role of Disability Acquisition in Access to Benefits” during the the 3rd Annual CCYC Health In | Equity Conference in October 2023.

  • Jennifer Zwicker presented findings from the Nothing Without Us project during a CIHR-hosted webinar titled “Understanding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and promoting health equity among children, adolescents, and families in Canada and the United States.”

  • Christiane Roth presented her findings from a scoping review on Autism policies around the world during a panel presentation at the KBHN Conference in October 2023.


Sharing our work at conferences and other events is an important way for our team to make connections with researchers, community members, individuals with lived experience, and other stakeholders, which helps to enhance the quality and impact of our work.
